As visitors continue to flock to Nassau Paradise Island, the twin-island destination is readying for an unforgettable July as The Bahamas celebrates its 50th Anniversary of Independence. 

Many of the island’s top resorts are ramping up activity for the celebrations, which will be held around The Bahamas beginning on the first of July. 

That includes The Bahamas’ famous Atlantis Paradise Island resort, which will be lighting up the night sky to honor the 50th Anniversary with a world class fireworks display on July 10, illuminating the “island’s vibrant colors, turquoise waters, pink buildings, and joy of the people.”

One of the Caribbean’s biggest post-pandemic success stories has reported another strong month of tourism, according to new data obtained by Caribbean Journal. 

The Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao reported 43,352 stopover tourist arrivals in May, a 21.6 percent increase compared to May of 2022, according to the Curacao Hotel and Tourism Association. 

That 21.6 percent rate was among the highest of any destination in the Caribbean last month, continuing a strong tourism trend in Curacao that began with the entry of Sandals Royal Curacao to the market last summer.

Turks and Caicos-based Caribbean airline InterCaribbean Airways is expanding its fleet, Caribbean Journal has learned. 

The carrier, which has been rapidly expanding its flight network across the northern and southern Caribbean, has closed on the acquisition of an additional seven ATR-42 aircraft.
