In a major step in Abaco’s tourism recovery, the first two resorts have reopened in Great Abaco in The Bahamas, the first to do so since Hurricane Dorian. 

That includes the Abaco Club on Winding Bay, one of the leading resort developments in Abaco.

The Abaco Club on Winding Bay, one of the premier hotels in The Bahamas and one of the leading golf resorts in the Caribbean, was the first resort to reopen in the Abaco chain since the devastating storm.

The Curacao Marriott Beach Resort has officially relaunched following the completion of a $40 million renovation project. 

The 336-room hotel has been renovated “to represent the latest innovative design thinking from the Marriott hotels brand,” according to a statement from the property. 

That includes a new “clean and contemporary” design, with a mix of Dutch colonial architecture and “plantation-style elements.”

Jamaica is getting a wave of new airlift for the upcoming winter tourist season, officials told Caribbean Journal. 

The destination has secured almost 80,000 new air seats for the period, in order to meet what officials called “increased demand from travelers.”

The vast majority of those seats are coming from the northeastern United States, with more than 64,000 additional seats, largely out of New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. 

That includes United Airlines’ increased frequency from Newark to Montego Bay, along with American Airlines’ increase in service to Montego Bay from Philadelphia, among others.

The Cayman Islands has topped the 7,000-room milestone, tourism officials told Caribbean Journalthis week. 

The destination has added more than 1,000 new rooms in the last three years, with the condominium and villa categories accounting for 73 percent of that increase, according to a statement.
