ST GEORGES, Grenada — Grenada has announced that it will join the recent round of price cuts for regional economic citizenship precipitated by St Kitts and Nevis in September, which has been widely viewed as an unproductive “race to the bottom”.

According to Investment Migration Insider, the chair of Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment Committee, Kaisha Ince, announced during the 11th Global Residence and Citizenship Conference in Hong Kong last week, that the Grenada citizenship by investment programme (CIP) will see some significant changes before the end of the year.

The country announced recently that it would join the Solar Head of State coalition and install solar photovoltaic panels on the island’s national executive office, Jamaica House.

The announcement comes in keeping with the island’s promise to transition to 30 percent renewable energy by 2030.

“This project is symbolic of the renewable future we see for Jamaica and the Caribbean,” said Prime Minister Andrew Holness. “Islands like Jamaica are becoming leaders for demonstrating the deployment of solar technology, and I aim to lead by example, by installing solar PV on the Office of the Prime Minister, Jamaica House.”

The Caribbean Tourism Organization has announced new dates for its Climate Smart Sustainable Tourism Forum.

The forum, which was postponed due to Hurricane Irma, will go on in St Kitts from Dec. 12-13 at the Ocean Terrace Inn in St Kitts.

The first-ever conference is being held under the theme “Good For Us, Better for All,” bringing together local, regional and international tourism stakeholders and development agencies.

In an effort to track citizen media stories of hope and resilience after the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season that wreaked havoc on several islands along the Caribbean archipelago, the Caribbean Voice initiative, comprising partners Global Voices, Covela Foundation and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), asked social media users region-wide to hashtag their experiences as they undertake rebuilding efforts.
