The Caribbean Islands have long been a destination for Americans looking to get away from the long, cold winters, honeymoon or just get out of the office. Last September, when Hurricane Irma barreled into the Caribbean Islands, as it strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane, Barbuda, Antigua, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands were among those hit hardest. Over six months later, many of the islands are still recovering from the devastation.

Tourism is one of the Caribbean's main sources of income, and since the hurricanes, almost all the islands have felt financial strain. There are many countries currently able to welcome tourists that you can and should still visit since tourism is one of the best ways to help the islands recover financially.

Provided that you are respectful to people who may still be struggling in the aftermath of the hurricanes, it's not only appropriate but important that tourists return.

JetBlue is going ahead with plans to expand its flight service between New York and Curaçao, the Curaçao Tourist Board announced.

The New York City-based carrier will be adding a fourth weekly flight to the Dutch Caribbean island beginning June 19.

Fresh off the news of rival American Airlines’ huge Caribbean expansion, JetBlue has added another new nonstop route to the region.

JetBlue has officially launched its newest daily nonstop flights, connecting Newark, New Jersey and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

The move strengthens JetBlue’s position as the leading carrier to the Dominican Republic —indeed, the carrier operates more daily flights to the country than any other airline.

It just got even easier to get to Bimini.

The tiny archipelago is the closest Bahamian destination to Miami, and now Bahamian national carrier Bahamasair is set to launch new flights from Miami to Bimini.

Beginning at the end of the month, Bahamasair will launch a total of four weekly flights to Bimini, Miami International Airport announced in a statement.
